Acids and Bases

• Purpose
This virtual lab activity aims at reviewing calculation and basic skills related to acid base titration.

• Procedure
- Log on to http://www.chem.iastate.edu/group/Greenbowe/sections/projectfolder/flashfiles/stoichiometry/acid_base.html

- Select the type of experiment ( Strong acid vs Strong base)
- Fill the burette with base
- Select both acid and base from the given list
- Select Phenolphthalein as indicator
- Perform a rough titration to estimate the volume of base needed then click on "concordant values" to redo an accurate titration.
- Solve for the concentration of the base and check your answer.
- Click on graph to see a sketch of the titration curve.
- Click on reset to perform another titration using different acids and base. You might as well change the indicator.
